It was released on 12 April 2017.The movie is about a young orphan who lives in a small village and dreams of becoming successful in something in his life. He grows up to be a very hardworking young man and struggles with poverty until he saves up enough money to buy himself a toy car. He has dreams of becoming successful in something. The toy car that the boy buys is actually not a toy at all, but a remote control that can control an actual Ferrari. This boy eventually grows up to be a young man who lives in the city and is working hard to become successful in life. He works at different part-time jobs just so he can earn enough money to buy himself the ultimate dream car, a Ferrari. In order to earn enough money for his dream car, he has several odd jobs including being a waiter, selling vegetables and even selling drugs. The film also follows the main character's love interest and their lives together as a couple. The movie was released on 12 April 2017 in about 600 theatres all over India. It was released in the United States on 5 May 2017.The film celebrated its success by releasing a new poster on 12 November 2017 which is a remake of the trailer of the film. The film made it to rank #24 in Rotten Tomatoes' 100 best movies of 2017 list. The film won six awards from the top 14 Indian films at the 57th National Film Awards, including Best Debut Film of a Director. The film was the highest-grossing Hindi movie of 2016.The movie was nominated for five categories at 3rd Indian TIFF Film Festival 2017: Best Director, Best Actor (Shaan), Best Actress (Nargis Fakhri), and International Film Competition (Non Indian film). "Ki Sawaari" received mixed reviews from critics. Rajeev Masand of News18 gave the film a rating of 2.5/5 and called it an "engaging and entertaining family entertainer with a few good sequences and an exceptional first half that will keep you hooked."
